Inspired by the walled garden at Kellie Castle in Fife, Rose Arch Garden captures the structure and abundance of this beautiful Scottish garden. Rose arches and apple trees sit amongst cosmos, cornflowers and herbaceous planting, with formal pathways leading through carefully clipped topiary hedging.
I was drawn to the contrast between the ordered structure of the garden and the softer, more informal planting growing within it. Painted in my signature pointillist style, thousands of individual dots build the layers of colour, light and detail, inviting the eye to wander through the pathways and discover the different elements of the garden.
