Inspired by Jo Thompson's garden design at the 2025 Chelsea Flower Show, Strong Beauty captures an abundance of summer planting, with English roses, foxgloves and alliums emerging amongst layers of rich green foliage. I was drawn to the strength of the planting and the way the different flowers, colours and forms come together to create a garden that feels both structured and wonderfully full.
Painted in layers of acrylic using palette knives, the surface has a rich, tactile quality, with individual marks building the flowers and foliage across the canvas. The larger scale allowed me to become completely immersed in the planting, capturing the colour, texture and sense of abundance that first drew me to the garden.
