Inspired by the gardens at RHS Wisley in Surrey, Flaming Maples & Azaleas captures Japanese maples glowing in vivid reds and oranges amongst the softer pinks of flowering azaleas. Against the deep blue sky, the moon appears through the treetops, creating a striking contrast with the intensity of the foliage below.
I was drawn to the extraordinary combination of colour and light, and the way the fiery maples seemed to glow against the darker sky. Painted in my signature pointillist style, thousands of individual dots and layered marks build the richness of the foliage, creating depth and texture across this large-scale painting.
