This unique ceramic sculpture was created using a coiling technique and hand-painted with Agapanthus, fennel, Echinacea, Echinops and other garden planting before being finished with a durable glaze. The piece is presented in a silver-plated tray and planted with sempervivums, bringing the painted and living elements together.
The sculpture was inspired by the egg I created for the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, which was displayed in St James’s Park in central London. I wanted to take the idea of wrapping botanical imagery around a three-dimensional form further, creating a completely individual piece that brings together my love of painting, gardens and the natural world.
