Inspired by a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, Astrantia & Foxgloves brings together soft pink Astrantia and foxgloves against a delicate backdrop of cow parsley. I was drawn to the abundance of flowers and the contrast between the warm pinks and the fresh greens of the surrounding foliage.
Painted in layers of acrylic using palette knives, the surface has a rich, tactile quality that reflects the density and texture of the planting. The overlapping flowers and foliage create a sense of being immersed in the garden, capturing some of the colour and vibrancy of an English garden at the height of summer.
